Come and support Briana Waters, a dear friend of our community who has been wrongly sent to prison. The significance of her conviction is that she is one of the first people to be sentenced as an “eco-terrorist”. She went to trial facing a possibility of 35 years for allegedly aiding in the use of a “destructive device” for a politically motivated arson. Due to a contentious trial and a hung jury, she was partially convicted and sentenced to 6 years in a federal prison. For more information please visit www.supportbriana.org. When the verdict was declared on March 6th, 2008, she was initially incarcerated at Seatac in Washington state. By August she was designated to Danbury, Connecticut to serve out the remainder of her sentence.
Briana is a loving mother of a 4 year old daughter, a passionate violinist in middle eastern, balkan, classical, and irish music. Her partner John Landgraf and their daughter Kalliope have been living with family in California and making flights to visit her. It has been a challenging time for the whole family. All the proceeds from the benefit will go to supporting the family and enabling John and Kalliope to travel back and forth to Connecticut in order to visit Briana.
